Medal of Honor Review

Medal of Honor is a first-person shooter video game in the Medal of Honor series, developed by Danger Close, a team within the EA Los Angeles studio, and DICE, released on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on October 12, 2010. The game is a reboot of the series, taking place during the ongoing War in Afghanistan.

Medal of Honor’s single-player campaign uses a heavily-modified version of Unreal Engine 3, and its multiplayer uses the Frostbite Engine. The game uses dedicated servers for PC and consoles. However the server files have not been made public and are only available through specific GSP’s. It is the first game in the Medal of Honor series to receive an M rating from the ESRB.

World of Warcraft Review

In this review I will be looking at the good and bad points to do with World of Warcraft, including The Burning Crusade and the Wrath of The Lich King expansion packs.

The review will consist of 6 sections:
Game play
Graphics
System requirements
Conclusion
Score /10
Game play
The multiplayer content of this game is, to put it bluntly, phenomenal. The interface of the game is so easy to use that I could work my way around the controls like a pro within minutes, and the way the other players you meet have names above their heads helps to see who is an online companion and who is an NPC. The World of Warcraft levels system is very nice and easy to use and encourages players to travel around when they reach certain levels, as the monsters themselves are given levels, or strength indicators, and will stop giving you XP should you attack a monster with a level much lower than yourself. The character customization is one of the best I have ever seen, allowing you to change  your race, class, profession, armour, weapons and transport. Traveling around the World of Warcraft can sometimes be a long and annoying experience, but the graphics and cenery do add some light to the task, and the Mounts system can make journeys up to 3 times faster. Mounts are a form of ride-on beast, ranging from motorbikes, bears, mammoths and mechanic birds to flying dragons and phoenixes. The quests are varied and the player organised boss raids require tactical thinking, intense planning, good reactions and communication, aswell as a thousand players. Overall, the possibilities are endless, and there is always something different to do in the World of Warcraft. Another nice thing is that Blizzard offer a 10 day FREE trial to ANYONE who does not have an existing World of Warcraft account.
Graphics
The graphics in the World of Warcraft are not entirely realistic, but neither are some of the events within the game, for example: teleporting between different locations; riding on a giant phoenix or mammoth or casting magic spells. The game is not let down by the graphics, and is improved if anything, as the environment is strangely addictive and enjoyable in its own way. It is possible to submerge yourself in this world of fantasy for hours on end.  Losing track of the time and forgetting anything even remotely important you have to do, as you become attatched to your character, almost feeling its emotions and needs. The gameplay is almost seamless, with virtually no loading screens and thousands of places to visit. The world stretches on for what seems like forever; I know people who have reached the maximum level and have not yet adventured into more than a quarter of the map.
System requirements
The system requirements are extremely low compared to most games with similar graphics, and I was surprised at how smoothly the game ran on my 7 year old PC. Blizzard recommends:
Intel Pentium 4 1.5GHz processor
1GB of RAM
3D graphics card with 64MB of graphics memory e.g. Nvidia FX5700
The minimum requirements:
Intel Pentium 3 800MHz processor
512 MB of RAM
32MB graphics memory
10GB hard drive space
I found my system able to run the game seamlessly on low with a single core Intel Celeron 2.6GHz processor,
1GB of DDR RAM (the ancient stuff) and an integrated Intel Extreme 82865G graphics chipset, sharing up to 96MB of memory with the RAM.
Conclusion
For anyone who owns a PC and has ever played a game ever, you should give this game a go as I feel it is one of the best additions to my gaming collection so far. I would highly recommend downloading the 10 day free trial as it is an amazing game and well worth giving it a go.
