Disney’s new release, Epic Mickey has hit the shelves and Junction Point’s Paul Weaver has said he has fingers crossed for good sales. He believes gamers can tell his game has “a soul”, which should give it an edge over Wii rivals.
In and interview with Computer and Video Games he said:
“I think it comes down to belief at the end of the day and we’ve invested a huge amount of time and passion into the game,”
“I really do believe you can tell when a game has a soul, when people went in and made the very best game they could. I know we did at Junction Point.
“Obviously I hope it’s very well received in the marketplace and with that in mind we hope for good sales. That’s really going to be for the public to decide, for us we made the best game we could.”
Disney Epic Mickey debuted at number 11 in the UK Wii Chart this weekend – and didn’t even manage to break the top 40 in the all-formats chart.

A wise owl has noticed that last year Sony filed for seven patents all of which suggest that the next generation of portable playstation will feature a touch sensitive panel on its underside.
One patent suggests that the front-mounted display precisely reflects actions on the rear panel, overcoming the traditional touchscreen problem that “the user’s fingers often obscure the part that is to be selected.”
Microsoft also seems to have its nose in patents as they have begun patenting variations of touchscreen controls, in this case using ultraviolet light to create a “topography changing layer” which provides varying tactile feedback – such as “serving as a virtual button.”

Black Ops has dominated the games market since it’s release a few weeks ago, but now Gran Turismo 5 is finally here it may find its self with some competition. The new Gran Turismo’s release has been one of the most anticipated games of the year and is Playstations biggest exclusive title.
The game received a 8.5 out of 10 rating from IGN and, thanks to this, its likely that many people buying consoles this christmas will consider a PS3 over a Xbox 360, just for this exclusive.
IGN Writes:
Gran Turismo 5 is a 10/10 simulator wrapped up in a 5/10 game – driving is as exhilarating as anything that’s gone before, and slavish obsession with the minutiae of many of its cars ensure it’s an encyclopaedia of automotive delights. Its brilliance on the track, however is matched by its sloppiness off of it, and there’s a lack of polish that would at one time have seemed sacrilegious to the series. Ultimately its driving wins out to ensure that it’s still a great game, but it leaves that nagging doubt; this could have been a masterpiece were it not for the fact that Polyphony was so absorbed with the detail that it took its eye off the ball.
This sums the game up well as realism wise, it is phenomenal

While the console has seen a few iterations – most notably the ‘slim’ version this Summer – and several dramatic firmware updates, the console is largely unchanged from the device which launched on November 21, 2005.
As of September, Microsoft had sold 44.6 million Xbox 360s worldwide. It remains dominant over Sony’s rival PlayStation 3, although this year saw that gap begin to narrow with PS3′s popularity increasing.
In its early days, the console was dogged by the ‘red ring of death’ fault, which led to Microsoft introducing a $1 billion extended warranty program.
In recent years, however, the Xbox 360 is perhaps better-known as the home of multiplayer and purchasing platform Live.
“The leap to HD gaming interconnected through LIVE was a pretty watershed moment,” enthused Xbox Live boss Stephen Toulouse on his blog yesterday.
